We hope that through peer-learning and peer-education, those who feel uneasy using a digital platform will take on the challenge with the assurance that fellow participants and the POOC facilitator will be there to help answer any questions.
Though the POOC’s main language is English, we hope that non-native English speakers will also join the conversation. We recognize that holding this POOC in English limits possible participation and hope that future endeavors will correct this limitation.
In order to contribute to the Media@McGill POOC, you must register on the site. Once you have registered, you will be able to contribute to the discussion. All POOC conversations will be moderated by a facilitator.
If you decide not to register, you can still participate by using the #PCond hashtag on Twitter, watching uploaded videos and viewing the reading list, reading POOC blog entries, and attending The Participatory Condition (in person or via the live webstream). However, you will not be able to contribute any blog postings if you are not registered.
You do not have to be in Montreal to participate in the POOC. All material will be available online and The Participatory Condition colloquium will be livestreamed in its entirety. We encourage you to post comments on the POOC platform and to use #PCond to stimulate discussions in social media.
Reading and Watching Videos
Each week, participants will be expected to read recommended readings and/or watch suggested videos, and post critical responses to the readings, viewings, or other blog entries.
We recommend that you contribute to the blog at least once a week. Please take the time to read other participants’ blog entries and build upon what they have contributed rather than repeat what has already been said. Please be respectful in giving your responses and feedback. All discussions will be moderated so as to maintain an online environment that fosters learning, exchange, and respect.
We encourage all participants to use Twitter to engage others in the Participatory Condition discussion. To stimulate discussions on the Twittersphere please use hashtags #PCond. If you are unfamiliar with Twitter, you will find below a few video links of how it works:
